- Cedric The Entertainer – Live Comedy 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Thunder Valley Casino, Lincoln. The American actor, comedian, producer, and TV show host has spent decades delivering laughs on stages big and small. Cedric is best known for his side-splitting standup material while touring as one of the Original Kings of Comedy. Tickets from $70.
- Annual Jack and Jill Readers Are Leaders Book Giveaway 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Underground Books. Join the Sacramento Chapter Teens of Jack and Jill of America Inc. as they inspire young minds and uplift our community through the power of reading. There will be youth led book readings of popular children’s books, a free book for every child, and light refreshments. Free, attendees must register.
- Patti Labelle & Gladys Knight 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Thunder Valley Casino, Lincoln. This duo performance brings together the “Godmother of Soul” and the “Empress of Soul” for an evening of legendary R&B, soul, and gospel hits.
