Project by Maya Lee

Maya Lee is 2022 graduate of West Campus High School and a Girl Scout Ambassador with Troop 2381. Her troop meets on the campus of Center of Praise Ministries in Sacramento, California. She has been a Girl Scout since kindergarten and this project was part of her Girl Scout Gold Award. The Gold Award is the highest achievement a Girl Scout can earn. It requires Girl Scouts to leave a lasting change in their communities. “The Girl Scout Gold Award has inspired me to create something that my area didn’t have until now, a central place to help educate the public about the African American people and places important to Sacramento’s history,” Lee said.
