The Sacramento OBSERVER is offering two, 10-week internships to students enrolled in any institution of higher learning this summer. The OBSERVER’s internship program is specifically designed to provide training and experience for students interested in journalism and multimedia communications, focusing on the Black community in the Sacramento region.

Internship Positions Available:

Reporter — This is a general assignment reporter position. Interns will be required to produce stories for The OBSERVER’s website and weekly newspaper.

Multimedia Journalist — This position will research, write, and produce digital news content optimized for online and social media platforms.

Internship Schedule: The 10-week internship period runs from June 16 – Aug. 22.

Stipends: The Observer will provide a $5,000 stipend for each selected intern.

Eligibility: A candidate must be a graduate student, an undergraduate student, or have graduated from college within six months of beginning the internship. Academic credit will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Deadline: Applications must be received by Friday, May 23, 2025 5 p.m. PST.
