The Sacramento Kings announced a new, multiyear jersey patch partnership with Reviver on Thursday morning. The Reviver logo will be located on the left front strap of the Kingsโ€™ jersey. The collaboration will mark the first time an African-American-founded technology company has partnered with an NBA team in such a capacity.

Reviver is the creator of the worldโ€™s first digital license plate. The company has the backing of the Black Star Fund, a Sacramento-based venture capital firm led by Black professionals.

The OBSERVER spoke with Reviverโ€™s founder, Neville Boston, exclusively before the big announcement. He said he believes the partnership is a game-changer for African Americans and people of color.

โ€œWe believe this will make us a billion-dollar company, and by doing that, I believe it will help springboard other companies in a position to do the same,โ€ Boston told The OBSERVER. โ€œIโ€™m OK with being the first, but Iโ€™m not OK with being the only. I want to make sure this is a ladder to bring other companies with us.โ€

The partnership officially begins on opening night at the Golden 1 Center. However, the deal extends beyond basketball in Sacramento, Boston said. The digital plates also will be promoted and made available for purchase at Sutter Health Park during baseball season, where the Aโ€™s will play for at least the next three seasons.

Boston is thrilled about the Kings partnership. He said that Vivek Ranadive, the Kingsโ€™ principal owner, and the teamโ€™s staff have fully supported Reviver and what it is trying to accomplish.

โ€œWhen you look at success overall, itโ€™s tied to partnerships with the right team,โ€ Boston explained. โ€œThey either give capital or help to amplify your brand. With the Kings, we hit a trifecta.โ€The partnership aims to help create more opportunities for the Sacramento community and inspire the next generation of creators.
