  1. An Evening with Charles Blow – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Mondavi Center. Charles Blow is an op-ed columnist at the New York Times, where his column appears Mondays and Thursdays. His columns tackle hot-button issues such as social justice, racial equality, presidential politics, police violence, gun control and the Black Lives Matter movement. Tickets from $25.
  2. Karaoke Game Night – 6-9 p.m. Fridays at Roscoe’s Bar & Burgers. Come out for a night of karaoke, games, contests, dancing, trivia and prizes. Free and open to the public.

  6. 2024 Cocktail Academy: Cocktails 101 – 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Hook & Ladder Manufacturing Co. This is a series of cocktail classes led by Hook & Ladder beverage director Chris Tucker. Each class features a lecture and demonstration, tasting and hands-on drink creation. Enjoy small bites from the kitchen while you practice your skills. Tickets from $95.

  10. SLC Sunday Experience: Gifts from Dr. Martin Luther King – 9 a.m.-noon Sunday, Jan. 14, at Spiritual Life Center. What makes Dr. King the icon he has become are the principles he taught that anyone can apply in his or her life. When enough people practice those principles, we move closer to bringing into reality the “beloved community” King envisioned. Free and open to the public.
  11. Sacramento Wedding Festival – 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at Cal Expo. Make planning your special day exciting and joyous. From florists to photo booths, meet with experienced professionals who can help you create the perfect event for you and yours. Tickets from $20.
  12. World Class Karaoke – 5-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Guild Theater. Get ready to unleash your inner superstar and sing your heart out. This in-person event is the perfect opportunity to showcase your talent and have a blast with friends and fellow music lovers. Tickets from $20.
  13. Omega Bowl for Change – 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at Capitol Bowl. This party with a purpose will be a night filled with fun, laughter, music, food, drinks and friendship. All proceeds support the Nobility Educational Foundation programs (college scholarships, mentoring and more). Tickets from $20.
  14. The Extra Mile March – 7:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Oak Park Community Center. The “extra mile” is the optional first leg of the march for those who consider themselves a “community leader.” It is so called because leaders sometimes have to get up earlier and walk a little farther than those they lead. Begin the march at either location. Free and open to the public.
  15. The 42nd Annual March for the Dream – 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Sacramento City College. The march officially begins in the Sacramento City College parking lot next to Hughes Stadium. In an abundance of caution, everyone is encouraged to mask up and dress for cool weather. Free and open to the public.
  16. North Sacramento/Del Paso Heights MLK March – 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Grant Union High School. A short program precedes the march. Immediately following the march, a resource and business fair will be available, bringing together various community resources to provide for the North Sacramento/Del Paso Heights community. Free and open to the public.
  17. 6th Annual MLK Jr. Day March and Family Celebration – 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Johnson-Springview Park. This year’s focus is “Attaining the Beloved Community” in continuing Dr. King’s work for nonviolence. Be entertained as you enjoy food vendors and browse community booths. Free and open to the public.
  18. Reclaim MLK: A Day of Service – Blacker the Berry & Greens Garden Day – 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Blacker the Berry & Greens Garden, Oak Park. Black Lives Matter Sacramento hosts a community day of service to fortify the Blacker the Berry & Greens Garden in Oak Park. Masks are required and people are encouraged to wear warm clothes and proper shoes for the wet weather conditions. Free and open to the public.
  19. 4th Annual MLK Celebration – Noon-2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Ulatis Community Center, Vacaville. The event features a keynote speech by Maurice “Mo” Arnold of Mo_losophy LLC, DJ John Laxa of Premier 6 Events, a dance performance by Bliss Urban Arts Center, information from local nonprofits, poetry readings, and presentations by local elected and community leaders. Free and open to the public.
  20. Harlem Globetrotters 2024 World Tour – 1 and 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Golden 1 Center. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters global tour as they take the court with moments of extreme basketball innovation and unparalleled fan fun.
