  1. Language Access in California’s Elections – Noon-1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in Room 126, California State Capitol. This educational series takes an in-depth look at new and emerging research on voting access and equity in California elections, particularly among underrepresented communities. Sessions will feature leading experts discussing the latest research on topics impacting California voters. Free and open to the public.
  2. Assemblymember McCarty’s 8th Annual Holiday Open House and Toy Drive – 4-6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity. A free event open to community members in Assembly District 6 with the goal of making the holiday season brighter for those in need. Please bring a new unwrapped gift to be donated for distribution to local families.
  3. Anonimuss Rose: A Long Way From Home Tour – 8 p.m.-midnight Monday, Dec. 4, at On the Y. Experience the award-winning, country soul-hop artist and her new band, the Gardeners. Tickets are $10.
  4. Holiday Magic Art Show – 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday, Dec. 6-30, at Annie Peony Fine Art Gallery. Seven area artists showcase paintings and prints at holiday prices. Beverages and snacks will be served. Free and open to the public.
  5. Region Business December Mixer – 3:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 712 K St. Connect with industry experts, potential collaborators and maybe even find new clients. Don’t miss out on this chance to make valuable connections and gain insights from fellow professionals in the region. Tickets from $75.
  6. 2023 Metro Chamber Annual Holiday Mixer – 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Sheraton Grand Sacramento. Network with local businesses, foundation program participants, young professionals and members of the board at the chamber’s largest mixer of the year. Tickets are $45.
  7. Hella Black in Old Sac Comedy Competition – 8-9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Laughs Unlimited Comedy Club. Hosted by Tristan Johnson, there will be a $500 cash prize comedy competition. Tickets are $15.
  8. HIV Testing and Health Services – 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Colonial Heights Library. Rapid HIV testing, linkage to HIV treatment, rapid STI testing and influenza vaccines. Free and open to the public.
  9. “Nutcracker Reimagined” – 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Harris Center for the Arts. Blending iconic tradition to steampunk innovation, Folsom Lake College’s “Nutcracker Reimagined” is a magical adventure into the Land of Sweets, following Clara through a diversity of dance styles set to the college’s live choir. Tickets from $28.
  10. Magical Christmas Train – Start times vary. Dec. 8-23, at River Fox Train. Each ticket includes a 1-hour train ride, hot cocoa, a souvenir mug and a cookie. Santa’s elves will be on board to guide passengers in holiday sing-alongs, elfish games and fun festive activities. Tickets from $60.
  11. Holiday Awards Gala – 6-10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Sequoia at the Cannery. Join an evening of holiday cheer, networking and dancing with the East Sacramento business community and DJ Bobby Brown. Food provided by chef Aimal Formoli. Tickets from $60.
  12. Holiday Sizzle – 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at 225 30th St., suite 306. Indulge in the holiday spirit and enjoy a delightful mix of entertainment, food and fun.   13. RFDC Holiday Benefit Concert Ft. The Marcus Shelby Orchestra – 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Center at Twenty-Three Hundred. Celebrate 23 years of service with the Roberts Family Development Center, which honors “Hero Couples” of RFDC for their enduring support. The Marcus Shelby Orchestra performs its “Harlem Nutcracker and Holiday mix.” Leon Guidry is the MC. Tickets from $50.
  14. T-Pain and Flo Rida – 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Thunder Valley Casino. Watch as these legends perform all their classics in one night. Tickets from $60.
  15. Pancakes & Pictures With Santa – 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Dec. 9, at Feickert Park. Bring your kids and get ready to enjoy a scrumptious pancake breakfast while capturing precious moments with Santa. Free and open to the public.
  16. Sacramento Campus Law School Application Workshop – 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at 3200 Fifth Ave. This workshop will highlight your personal statement, résumé, letters of recommendation and changes made to the application process. Attendees must register.
  17. Cookies and Cocoa with Santa – 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Center of Praise Legacy Center. This free, community event ensures children have a chance to take a picture with a Santa who looks like them. The event focuses on inclusion, education, STEM and fun for all children. Free and open to the public.
  18. Christmas in Oak Park – 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Underground Books. Face painting, hot cocoa and cookies, and free photos with Black Santa. Free, attendees must register.
  19. “A King And His Princess” Father Daughter Dance – 4-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Pannell Meadowview Community Center. An event she will never forget; dancing, dinner, entertainment and games. Free, attendees must register.
  20. 2023 Celebration & Healing Concert – 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Genesis Church. This event is dedicated to supporting youth and families, considering the trauma repercussions felt throughout our community, including social injustice, gang violence and other traumatic experiences. Free and open to the public.
  21. V101 Holiday Jam – 7:30 Saturday, Dec. 9, at Golden 1 Center. See some of your favorite artists take the stage like Sage the Gemini, Baby Bash, Mya and E-40. Tickets from $60.
  22. Second Sunday Jazz Brunch – 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at 1107 Firehouse Alley. International and local bands in an up-close and personal setting. This week features keyboardist Reggie Graham and his band the Reggie Graham Quartet. Tickets from $25.
