On a night filled with the spirit of Halloween, Doja Cat opened The Scarlet Tour at San Francisco’s Chase Center to a nearly packed house, with thousands of fans dressed in an array of costumes. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect as the tour served as the embodiment of her recent “Scarlet” album that delves into the themes of the supernatural, which was released last September.
Yet, it wasn’t Doja Cat herself who first commanded the attention of the crowd. Above the heads of the audience was a huge colossal spider, reminiscent of the one on the album cover. It cast an eerie shadow that set the stage for an evening that became a fusion of art and music, perfectly tailored to the Halloween atmosphere. An interesting moment in the show arrived when Doja Cat’s dancers emerged, transforming into malevolent demons, embodying the night’s eerie theme.
“The Scarlet Tour” is a pivotal chapter in the star’s career. It is her debut as a headlining act. With a seamless blend of vocals and dance moves, Doja Cat firmly establishes herself as an artist of immense dedication to her career. The concert lasted 90-minutes and divided into five acts that included some of her top hits; “Paint the Town Red” to chart-toppers like “Kiss Me More” and “Say So.”
Though known well for her elaborate style and outfit, the rapper kept it simple during the performance, staying in one outfit for the entirety of the 90 minute show.
The Scarlet Tour will continue its North American tour, hopefully captivating audiences, until it’s finale on December 13th. Cities range from Los Angeles, Houston, New York, and Detroit will bear witness to this mesmerizing spectacle.
