  1. Bold 2023 – 4-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at the B Street Theatre. This event is filled with shared storytelling through vulnerability, comedy, dance and music. This year features a women’s small business market and an interactive 360 live photo booth. Speakers include Jill Osur, Megan Morgan, Michele Foss and Megan Phillips. Tickets starting at $60.
  2. Non-Equity Funding Strategies for Startups and Small Business – 6:15-7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at InnoGrove Coworking. Are you ready to secure funding for your startup or small business?   3. Marketing Mastermind – 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Richard T. Conzelmann Community Center. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals, exchange ideas and learn from industry experts. There will be engaging presentations, interactive workshops and networking sessions. Expert speakers will cover a wide range of topics, including digital marketing strategies, social media trends, content creation and more. This event is free.
  4. What Is a Good Job Now? For Fairness in the Workplace – 6-7 p.m. Oct. 18, at the Capitol, West Steps. State Sen. Maria Elena Durazo, warehouse worker Sara Fee and California Labor Commissioner Assistant Chief Daniel Yu discuss with Zócalo how to make jobs more fair for workers.
  5. One-on-One CalFresh Help with River City Food Bank – 10:30 a.m.-noon Thursday, Oct. 19, at Arcade Library. The CalFresh Outreach team from River City Food Bank can help you apply for CalFresh, reschedule your CalFresh appointment, fill out and submit report forms and other paperwork, and more. 
  6. Plenty O’ Pumpkins Patch – Noon-6 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 19-Oct. 28, at the Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum. Come find the cutest pumpkin patch among the historic buildings and fall decorations of Old Sacramento’s waterfront. Pumpkins are priced by size and the proceeds help fund the Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento. Your purchase allows children across Sacramento to receive the services they need.
  7. Rancho Cordova Chamber’s 60th Anniversary Gala – 5:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Platinum Palace. Join an unforgettable culinary experience; celebrate the “Best In Business” awards with chamber members; honor past chamber chairs and board members; check out stories, photos and interviews from the past 60 years and have a great evening celebrating chamber members.

  11. California Black Chamber of Commerce Economic Business Summit 2023 – 9 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. With 32 panels covering vital topics such as marketing, homeownership, banking relations, AI and mental health, this event is tailored for small businesses seeking growth. Network with industry experts, thought leaders and fellow entrepreneurs. Tickets starting at $100.
  12. Friends of Arden-Dimick Library Two-Day Fall Book Sale – 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21, at Arden-Dimick Library Community Room. Get a standard-size grocery bag of books for $6 (larger bags are more). You’re encouraged to bring your own grocery bags. Cash, credit or debit cards accepted. Funds will be used for Arden-Dimick library programs.
  13. Malcolm X 101 – 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum. This class is presented by professor Malik McDaniels. Learn why the system saw Malcolm as a threat and why he was eliminated. The same problems African people faced during Malcolm’s era still exist today.
  14. Networking Mixer – 5-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at Fire Taproom. Socialize with Black business owners, Sacramento locals and make new connections to expand your network. DJ Genetixx provides smooth neo-soul tunes to set the vibe for this free event.
  15. Third Friday Reggae with Marlon Asher, Roots Man Project & Stay Positive Sound – 6-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at Swabbies Restaurant and Bar. Trinidadian reggae artist Asher had his first major hit with “Ganja Farmer,” which was released in 2006 and became an international reggae classic. Tickets starting at $15.
  16. Urban Business Connect – 6-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the Midway Shopping Center.   18. Third Annual South Sacramento Festival – 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Shasta Park. Get ready for a fantastic free event featuring live music, delicious food, amazing vendors and activities for all ages.
