Join the Green Tech family honoring Black scientists and engineers who have made groundbreaking contributions in technology, medicine, agriculture, aerospace and more. We inspire youth to pursue STEAM careers and highlight the value of inclusive innovation. Learn about the new Green Tech Project IGNITE and our venture into advanced manufacturing, engineering and automation. Meet professional scientists, engineers, college and high school students, administrators and elected officials. Free and open to the public.
- CRC Black History Month: National African American Read-In 1:30-2:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Cosumnes River College Center for Inclusion and Belonging. The librarians and faculty from the CRC English Department are hosting campus-wide reading events featuring literature by authors from the African Diaspora as part of the National African American Read-In. Attendees are asked to register.
- Say It Loud – Live Comedy 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Laughs Unlimited Comedy Club. Performances by MCJ, Javon Whitlock, and special guests, headlined by Lawrence Owens. Tickets are $20.
- Crafted by Culture: Bourbon Tasting at Fixins Soul Kitchen 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Fixins Soul Kitchen, 3428 Third Ave. Celebrate Black History Month with John Lee Hooker Legacy Spirits โ an intimate bourbon tasting at Fixins Soul Kitchen. More than a tasting, this experience highlights how Black-owned spirits continue to shape culture while giving back, with proceeds supporting music and arts education through the John Lee Hooker Foundation. Tickets are $28.
- Open Mic Night at the Bookstore ft. Verde Arzu 6:15-7:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at A Seat at the Table Books, 9257 Laguna Springs Drive, suite 130, Elk Grove. Open mics are perfect to showcase your talents in a supportive and engaging bookstore/cafe environment. Hosted by Verde Arzu. Free, donations are being accepted.
- Step & Wine Down Fridays 7-10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at TAP Wine Lounge, 1011 Del Paso Blvd. Hosted by the Honey Steppers, this feel-good experience blends smooth vibes, great music, and easy-to-follow instruction as you learn the hottest urban and trail-ride line dances. Tickets are $12.
- Desi Banks – Live Comedy 7 p.m. Friday-Sunday and 9:45 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 20-22, at Punch Line Comedy Club. - Praise, Preach, Song & Dance – The History of Gospel Music 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Crest Theater. A true journey into the world of gospel music exploring its remarkable history, from its early days with pioneers such as Thomas Dorsey to the Soul Stirrers, Five Blind Boys, Williams Brothers, into the Quartet era of Capello singers, and on to the contemporary era with phenomenal artists like Kirk Franklin and Marvin Sapp. Itโs a walk through time, highlighting the boldness of gospel as performed by those who created it and those who deeply appreciate the art and the music. - THE BLK PROM 8 p.m.-2 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the DoubleTree Sacramento. For grown folks only! The clean-up is going to be real: black-tie only, grown vibes, classic R&B and hip-hop, a casino-themed atmosphere, live performances, a fashion show, and a ballroom full of people who came to relive prom or finally experience it the way it shouldโve been. - REFLECTIONS FROM THE PAST, A BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Sam Pannell Meadowview Community Center. This special event features a buffet of authentic Southern cuisine, including fried chicken, fried fish, collard greens, candied yams, and more. The program includes Black history trivia, African drumming and dance, and additional culturally enriched performances honoring Black history. Tickets from $20.
- Sip, Paint & Celebrate: A Creative Night at Underground Books 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Underground Books. As part of 40 Acres Black History Month programming, come create, sip, and celebrate culture and community. Tickets are $32.
- An Evening with Kelvin Truitt 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Guild Theater. Kelvin Truittโs sound is rooted in lived experience and emotion, offering audiences a thoughtful and immersive night of music that feels personal and intentional. His performance invites listeners to slow down, connect, and experience storytelling through sound. Free and open to the public.
