- Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) – Open Research Panel Discussion: Local Knowledge, Lasting Impact 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Sacramento State, Carlsen Center, Room 1520. Join us for a dynamic conversation about what open research looks like in practice, from data sharing and community collaboration to transparent methods and real-world outcomes. This closing event features panelists working across the region to create more equitable, accessible, and responsive ways of sharing knowledge. - โChicagoโ 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Nov. 18-23, at the Harris Center, 10 College Parkway, Folsom. โChicagoโ is still the one musical with everything that makes Broadway shimmy-shake: a universal tale of fame, fortune, and all that jazz, with one showstopping song after another. Broadwayโs longest-running musical has dazzled audiences for more than 28 years, and more than 10,000 performances, earning six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and a Grammy. Tickets from $45.
- The Shed Sessions: Learn Jazz Standards From Professionals 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Center for Musical Arts, 2564 21st St. Shed Sessions are a way to learn jazz one tune at a time. Led by Daniel J. Owens and Nate Furgason, they choose a tune at the beginning of every month to dissect and learn top to bottom. They talk about things like theory, improvisation, and exercises you can do at home to improve. They meet every Wednesday leading up to the jam session on the last Wednesday. This monthโs tune is โHave You Met Miss Jones?โ by Rodgers and Hart. Attendees are asked to make a $20 donation.
- BLACK MEN: Alive & Well: PROCESSING TODAYโS POLITICAL REALITY 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at South Sacramento Family Resource Center, 4343 Williamsbourgh Drive. A safe and confidential space for Black men to process the unique and intense psychological burden imposed by the current political climate. This support group is specifically for individuals who are male and Black, of African ancestry, and who live in Sacramento County. Free, attendees must register.
- Author Talk & Book Signing featuring: Dr. Vanessa Grubbs 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Underground Books. An inspiring evening with Dr. Vanessa Grubbs โ physician, activist, and author โ as she signs copies of her powerful new book exposing the roots of racism in American medicine and calling for true systemic change. Free, attendees must register.
- Say It Loud – Live Comedy 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Laughs Unlimited Comedy Club. Hear comedy sets from comedians such as Kendrick Williams, Javon Whitlock, Lillie Johnson, MCJ, and Zorba Hughes. All November birthdays get in free with valid ID. Tickets are $20.
- R&B Bingo Night (Friendsgiving style) 7-10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Lock and Key, 2718 J St. Get ready for R&B bingo โ groove to the hits and win epic prizes. - The Harley White Jr. Quartet ft. Carla Fleming 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Harlowโs. Since 1991, Harley White Jr. has been a prominent figure on the Sacramento music scene in a wide array of roles, from pop recording artist with Papaโs Culture, as a creative force with Blackalicious, Original Heads and Dr. Echo, as an award-winning bassist, and as an impresario presenting the WhiteNoise festival. Tickets are $26.
- SacTownYouthNights: Seeds of Gratitude 6-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Florin Square. A fun, safe, and family-friendly community event with clothes, books, free food giveaways, art murals, food and more. Open to youth, parents, and community members of all ages.
- 2nd Annual Causeway Boxing Classic 7-10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Sacramento State. Hosted at the Nest, this boxing showdown between the Hornets and Aggies promises a thrilling evening packed with intensity, athleticism, and school pride. Boxing clubs from throughout the region and across the country will join in going toe-to-toe for the top spot, including Air Force, San Jose State, Oregon State, Santa Clara and USC. Tickets from $27.
- Football: UC Davis vs. Sacramento State 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at UC Davis Health Stadium, Davis. Come support your Hornets as they take on the Aggies, for potentially the final time, for the Causeway Trophy. Tickets from $47.
- John Legend: โGet Liftedโ – 20th Anniversary Tour 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Thunder Valley Casino, Lincoln. This worldwide concert series celebrates the 20th anniversary of Legendโs groundbreaking 2004 debut album, โGet Lifted.โ The tour offers fans a deep dive into the album that launched his career, blending nostalgic material with his biggest career-spanning hits.
