  1. Creativity Speaks: Chris Inclenrock & Mars Parker 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Urban Hive, 1601 Alhambra Blvd., Suite 100. Creativity Speaks is a program designed to celebrate local creatives, offer attendees a source of inspiration from creatives outside their industry, and strengthen Sacramentoโ€™s creative community. Guest speakers include Marcus โ€œMarsโ€ Parker, a Sacramento-based comedian, actor and producer, and Chris Inclenrock, a visionary creative director with 20-plus years of experience building brands. Tickets are $18.
  2. Golden State Comedy 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Laughs Unlimited Comedy Club. A showcase of California comics hosted by Wendy Lewis. Enjoy headliner Paul Conyers, with performances from Marcus Mangham, Jesus Cruz, Jordan Kirchner and a special guest. Tickets are $18.
  3. Music at the Mill 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Old Sugar Mill, 35265 Willow Ave., Clarksburg. Live music by Cold Blood! After nearly 25 years, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood have returned with a new album and tour, blending blue-eyed soul and Bay Area funk reminiscent of Tower of Power. With hits like โ€œYou Got Me Humminโ€™โ€ and a dynamic horn section, their sound remains rooted in its classic style while evolving with a contemporary edge, showcasing Lydiaโ€™s powerhouse vocals.   4. Author Talk featuring Dorsey Nunn 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Underground Books. Activist and author Dorsey Nunn signs and discusses his powerful memoir, โ€œWhat Kind of Bird Canโ€™t Fly.โ€ Come hear firsthand how Nunn turned his lived experience into a life of advocacy and transformation. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Free, attendees must register.
  5. Vibe Sessions Lounge 7-10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Our Place Event Space and Kitchen. Join this singular night of good poetry, comedy and great music. Hosted by J-Unique and Flo-Real, with performances from Khiry Malik, Patrice Hill, Chris Jones and more. Tickets are $18.
  6. Ron G – Live Comedy 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Laughs Unlimited Comedy Club. Ron G was a โ€œLast Comic Standingโ€ finalist in 2018 and a finalist on Bill Bellamyโ€™s new show โ€œWhoโ€™s Got Jokes?โ€ He performs nationally, entertaining people while staying true to his commitment to clean humor. Tickets are $24.
  7. #SacTownYouthNights Movie Night 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Belle Cooledge Library. Calling all teens! Join us for a tobacco-free movie night featuring โ€œThe Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.โ€ Learn how tobacco makes an impact in the media through quiz games, win raffle prizes and eat popcorn and pizza. Free and open to the public.

Art Reception: โ€˜Her Anthemโ€™ by Shawntay Gorman 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at the West Sacramento Community Center, 1075 West Capitol Ave. Explore the dynamic intersection of music, culture and activism. Shawntayโ€™s work blends culture, storytelling and identity, celebrating resilience and community through bold colors and dynamic compositions.   10. Liquid Sky: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Powerhouse, 614 Sutter St., Folsom. Liquid Sky is the Bay Areaโ€™s premier Jimi Hendrix tribute band. Catch them live and youโ€™ll hear all the hits such as โ€œFire,โ€ โ€œRed House,โ€ โ€œVoodoo Child,โ€ and โ€œPurple Haze.โ€ Tickets are $18.
  11. 14th Annual Sacramento Banana Festival 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 16-17, at William Land Park. This multicultural event celebrates cultures in Asia, Africa, and the Americas that use the banana as a source of food, art, and culture. There will be performances from live bands, an arts and culture pavilion, food and craft vendors, a fashion show and more. Tickets are $10.

Guests will savor guided artisanal tea pairings, engage with insightful speakers and unwind through music and sound healing.   14. The Marcus Garvey Community Organizing Festival 7 a.m. and 2-11 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at Estate Farms, 6240 Excelsior Road. The day will start with the Ancestral Sunrise Drum Circle, followed by the โ€œLook for me in the whirlwindโ€ event that includes food, music, community resources, presentations, entertainment and more. Highlighting the vision and spirit of Marcus Garvey, the festival aspires to inspire, empower and incite individuals to take collective action in Black/African social affairs. Free and open to the public, donations accepted.
