Women facing economic hardship or seeking to reenter the workforce received a boost Saturday during a free professional clothing giveaway and resource fair hosted by the Sacramento Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.

Held at the Sacramento High School library, the โ€œWardrobe for Changeโ€ event served as a practical and empowering space for women in transition, offering access to gently used professional attire and support services aimed at job readiness and well-being.

In addition to clothing donations, it featured a mini hiring fair with the Sacramento City Unified School District conducting on-the-spot interviews. A mindfulness table and child-friendly activities also helped create an inclusive and supportive environment for mothers and caregivers.

โ€œWhether youโ€™re returning to work, pivoting into a new field, or simply trying to get back on your feet, this event is designed with you in mind,โ€ chapter President Teresa Aldredge said in a statement. โ€œWe believe every woman deserves to feel confident and supported as she takes the next step forward.โ€

The initiative comes at a time of increased economic uncertainty and shifts in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, with organizers emphasizing the importance of community-driven support for women navigating change. The Sacramento chapter of The Links, Incorporated, aimed to equip attendees not only with clothing but with the confidence to pursue new opportunities.
