  2. Black Student Success Week (Webinar Series) Noon-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, April 21-25, via webinar. This year’s theme is “Lift Up, Level Up: The Rise of Black Serving Institutions.” Black Student Success Week 2025 emphasizes how we are serving Black and African American students to support and ensure their success in community colleges and beyond.   3. 2025 Virtual Earth Day Celebration 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, via webinar. Please join the Sacramento Poor People’s Campaign, the Red, Green and Black Environmental Justice Coalition, Sacramento Climate Coalition and NorCal Resist for a virtual Earth Day event featuring speakers, resource lists and breakout rooms. Special speakers include Dr. Sigride Jenniska Asseko, an environmental epidemiologist whose research focuses broadly on environmental health literacy, exposure assessment and epidemiology with applications mostly to air pollution.   4. Durand Bernarr 8-10 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at The Rink Studios. A combination of Erykah Badu’s -izm’s and Little Richard’s sass, Durand Bernarr brings funk wrapped in yellow harmony and lyrical witty charm. Tickets are $32.
  5. Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento: Night out at Topgolf 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Topgolf Roseville, 1700 Freedom Way. Play with wonderful people for a great cause. All proceeds benefit youth receiving treatment at the Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento. Play for fun or compete to win. Tickets from $50.
  6. SSC 916+FineTuned Inc. presents ‘Monsters University’ Movie Night 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at House of Common Good, 2100 Del Paso Boulevard, suite A. This screening of the film, which features Billy Crystal (Mike Wazowski) and John Goodman (James P. Sullivan), celebrates Autism Awareness Month. It’s a heartwarming story about friendship, overcoming challenges and embracing what makes us unique. The event will feature complimentary snacks and resources and information for individuals with autism and other disabilities. Free; donations accepted.
  7. Mereba: Breeze Grew a Fire Tour 8-10 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Harlow’s. Southern-bred, alternative R&B singer-songwriter Mereba artistically embodies self-understanding on “The Breeze Grew a Fire,” her grandest work. Tickets are $33.
  8. ADS x Capsity Coworking: START Spring Showcase 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Capsity Oak Park, 3810 Broadway No. 219. ADS Showcases have made a comeback at Capsity Coworking. They’ll share artists, performers, and services for the opening with spring this season. Tickets from $4.

With his place cemented as one of the true legends of comedy, comedian Bruce Bruce continues his career as one of the best in his craft.   11. Fantastic Negrito 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Goldfield Trading Post. Born Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz, Fantastic Negrito’s story is a testament to resilience and the transformative power of music. Born in Massachusetts and raised in Oakland, he often speaks through his music about his cultural roots and experiences growing up as a Black man in America. Tickets are $33.
  12. Foster Youth Luggage Drive & Fundraiser 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 25-26, at Cal Expo, main gate. Stop by and join Myndz Resources Foundation in making a meaningful impact in the lives of foster children by providing suitcases and bags for their belongings. Myndz Resources Foundation strives to empower disadvantaged communities and individuals by providing mental health support and financial services, delivering positive impact and offering support that reaches within the community to empower lives and mental health wellness.
  13. 4th Annual ART-TISM: Interactive Art Exhibit 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Luther Burbank High School. ART-TISM is a community organization that provides safe spaces for special needs families to create, learn and engage with their peers and the community. This annual event is in honor of World Autism Month and to celebrate the talents of children on the spectrum, educate parents on community resources and encourage the use of art to communicate with our children.
