Now that the Kansas City Chiefs are headed to their third Super Bowl in a row, the entire nation has just become Philadelphia Eagles fans. The Chiefs, led by superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, have made it to the Super Bowl with a regular-season record of 15-2, achieved largely thanks to miracle plays by Mahomes and mistakes by the opposition.
Even though Mahomes is recognized as the NFLโs best quarterback, he did not make All-Pro this season. This reminds me of the times when the New England Patriots, led by their superstar quarterback Tom Brady, made seemingly annual trips to the Super Bowl and America got tired of watching them. I can recall going to many Super Bowl parties where I couldnโt even enjoy the game because I was rooting so hard for Brady and the Patriots to lose.
Now I am back again rooting against a team and a great quarterback to lose in the Super Bowl. However, again this year and like all the other years, most likely I will be disappointed. Why? Patrick Mahomes! Because this guy will find some way to pull out a victory at the last minute.
All About Jerry
Well, Jerry Jones was without a coach, and he had a chance to hire the one guy who I believe would change the culture in Dallas and remake the Cowboys into not only a playoff team, but a Super Bowl contender. The coach Jerry Jones refused to hire was Deion Sanders! Jones says he wants to win. However, protecting his huge ego is more important than winning.
Jones wants his and his alone to be the voice of the Dallas Cowboys and he knew that in hiring Sanders, he would fade into the background, and he can’t handle that. So, now at the ripe age of 82, time is fleeting for his Cowboys to get back on the winning track and make noise in the playoffs. As a former Dallas All-Pro player, Deion would bring instant credibility to the locker room and definitely would be the voice of the Cowboys, win or lose. Sorry, Cowboys fans. It looks as if you will have to endure many more years of frustration as you watch your Cowboys flame out as long as Jerry Jones is the general manager and owner.
