- PREVENTING SUICIDE IN AFRICAN AMERICANS: THE ATTEMPT SURVIVOR’S PERSPECTIVE – 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Jan. 28, via Zoom. This webinar includes a screening of “The S-Word,” an award-winning documentary that follows the lives of suicide attempt survivors; a presentation on surviving suicide through a Black lens; an appearance from Kelechi Ubozoh, a suicide attempt survivor and mental health advocate teaching communities and providers how mental health systems and Black communities can help prevent these suicides; and opportunities for Q&A. - Mahogany Urban Poetry series feat Shewrights and Marques Littles – 7-10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Our Place Event Space and Kitchen. Join an evening of soulful poetry, spoken word, live music and soul food, featuring performances from Marques Littles and Shewrights. Tickets are $12.

- 2025 & A Fascist Empire – 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Norcal Resist, 2775 Cottage Way No. 15. Sponsored by the All African Peoples Revolutionary Party, this event aims to bring Black people together to discuss our future and how we can organize and fight back against global oppression, U.S. politics and the inequities affecting our people all over the world. Free and open to the public.
- Black History Self-Guided Tour – 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday, at the California Museum. This tour highlights African American contributions to California’s rich history. Focusing on themes of resilience, activism, democracy and community, this exploration of signature and temporary exhibits highlights notable Black individuals, movements and organizations. Discover trailblazing individuals such as Bridget “Biddy” Mason, Venus and Serena Williams, and more. Tickets from $8.
- Eta Alpha Sigma 2025 Crab Feed & Benefit – 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Robertson Community Center. This signature fundraiser brings Sacramento together for an evening of mouthwatering food, lively entertainment and support for a great cause.
