- Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics – 9-10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the California State Railroad Museum. Discover Halloween inspired music at the Railroad Museum under the gentle glow of candlelight. Songs include: “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, “Stranger Things (Theme)” by S U R V I V E, the theme from the “Halloween” films by John Carpenter and more. Tickets from $35.
- SSC 916 Presents “The Angry Black Girl & Her Monster” Movie Night – 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 2100 Del Paso Blvd. “The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster,” starring Laya DeLeon Hayes, Denzel Whitaker and Chad Coleman, is about a young Black girl losing her mother and brother to violence and vowing to stop the violence by bringing her family back to life … on some mad scientist ish. She successfully resurrects her brother, but it soon becomes apparent she has brought back a monster hungry for vengeance. This is a donation based event.
- Blues & Bourbon: John Primer/Bob Corritore All Star Blues Band – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Harlow’s. It’s getting increasingly harder to hear traditional, real-deal blues, but fortunately lifelong blues purists John Primer and Bob Corritore bring us their fourth collaborative effort with “Crawlin’ Kingsnake.” Tickets from $38.
- Trick or Treat at SCM – 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Sacramento Children’s Museum. Calling all boos and ghouls: join in for a fun, free day of trick-or-treating featuring multiple candy stations, outside play, art activities and more. All activities will be outside. Dress-up is highly encouraged. This event is free with registration and the donation of one new or gently used children’s book per family. Bring it with you to drop off at check-in on the day. Capacity is limited.
- Glitter & Velvet Halloween Cabaret! – 7-10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Oak Park Brewing Co. Two burlesque troupes are coming together, the Royal Velvet Revue and Glitter Coven Cabaret, with music by DJ Lady Char, to bring you one grand, ghoulish night of entertainment. You might laugh, you might scream, but you’ll have a great time. Get your costumes on and come party. Tickets from $23.
- Strive Community Health Institute Grand Opening – 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Midtown Church. - “’90s Fresh” Open House Celebration at Innovation Factory – 4-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Studio T Arts & Entertainment Innovation Factory, 1215 Del Paso Blvd. An exclusive sneak peek into Studio T’s new “Innovation Factory.” The event features a fun and nostalgic “house party” vibe, complete with music, networking, and ’90s-inspired entertainment. Attendees will enjoy guided tours of the facility, special appearances by celebrities, and live performances. The Innovation Factory is designed to support youth development through performing arts, media production, and entrepreneurship. This new factory serves as a creative hub for underserved youth in the Sacramento area, offering programs that foster economic justice, mental well-being and career-building skills in media, performing arts and entrepreneurship. - Girls’ Night In with a Twist – 6-9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at 2251 Florin Road suite 20. Hosted by Lady Charmaine, host of “Hot Topics with Lady Charmaine” on 97.5 FM. This event features a panel for real yet respectful conversation. The opinions are bold and the atmosphere is nothing short of electric. Expect a night filled with upbeat energy, thought-provoking discussions and unexpected insights as panelists tackle everything from modern dating dilemmas and family issues, to social media madness. - Harvest Festival at Food Literacy Center – 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Food Literacy Center, 401A McClatchy Way. SCUSD students and families are invited for a day of fun, food and farm festivities such as a petting zoo, farmers market, pumpkin patch, arts and crafts and more. Lunch and healthy snacks available for purchase. Free, attendees must register.
- 5th Sacramento Black College Expo – 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Sacramento State. Seniors and juniors and college transfer students meet one on one with representatives from HBCUs and other colleges and universities. Get all the help you need to succeed. Students and families of all ages are welcome. Free and open to the public; donations welcome.
- Sac State Dance Team Football Clinic – 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Sacramento State. An exciting opportunity to learn and perform during halftime of the Hornets’ game. Enhance your dance skills, learn new choreography, experience the thrill of performing at a college game and get the chance to meet the team. All registered dancers receive a free T-shirt and entry to the game. Additionally, registered dancers will receive a discount code for spectator tickets for their guests. - Bob Marley Tribute w/Sol Horizon – 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Swabbies Restaurant and Bar. Swabbies presents the return of Sol Horizon’s Tribute to Bob Marley. - The Kings & Queens Of Poetry, Live at Celebration Arts – 7-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Celebration Arts. Sacramento, get ready for a mind-blowing all-star lineup that features Mario Ellis Hill, Coco Blossom, Anthony Jackson, Michael Todd Gallowglas, Dyvacat, She Wrights, Vincent Kobelt and Samantha Gaines. - An Evening with Brittney Griner – 7:30-9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at UC Davis, Mondavi Center in Jackson Hall. Griner is an NCAA and WNBA champion, and a three-time Olympic gold medalist. Winner of the Best Female Athlete ESPY and a 10-time WNBA all-star, Griner is one of the most decorated and significant athletes of this generation. Her most recent book, “Coming Home,” takes readers inside her shocking detention in Russia, the campaign to bring her home and how overwhelming support from family and friends kept her fighting for survival and justice.
