(US MEDIA GROUP) – America is in for a treat this summer as a heartwarming and inspiring film, Sound of Hope, hits theaters on July 4. Produced by Angel Studios and Daily Wire, this film is bound to make a lasting impact on the viewers and spark a movement within the Christian community.
The movie tells the true story of Reverend W.C. Martin and his wife, Donna, from a small town called Possum Trot in East Texas. The Martins, along with their community, adopted a staggering 77 children from the foster care system, most of whom were deemed difficult to place. Lead actor Demetrius Grosse, who portrays Reverend Martin, believes that this film can ignite an adoption movement within the body of Christ, where families rise up to take in vulnerable children who need homes.
Viewers will be reminded that there are currently 400,000 children in the foster care system in the U.S., with 100,000 of them waiting to be adopted. The film also features Marvel star Letitia Wright as an executive producer, adding to the star-studded cast.
Grosse, who is a devout Christian himself, emphasized the importance of caring for the less fortunate, quoting James 1:27 from the Bible. He stated, “It’s not about what denomination you belong to, but if you have a relationship with Christ, you can do something to help those in need.”
The Martins’ story is one of faith and trust in God, as they began the adoption process with limited financial means. They also intentionally chose to adopt children that others had overlooked. This is highlighted in a scene where Reverend Martin says, “We want the ones that others don’t want.”
Grosse praised the Martins for their selflessness and humility, stating, “They’re not extraordinarily wealthyโฆbut they don’t allow what they don’t have to stop them.” Sound of Hope showcases the power of faith and the impact it can have on individuals and communities.
The film is rated PG-13 for its depiction of child abuse, violence, language, and suggestive material. However, Grosse believes that these difficult themes are necessary to shed light on the reality of the foster care system and the importance of adoption.
In an interview with Crosswalk Headlines, Grosse expressed his belief that the world needs more stories like Sound of Hope. “It’s these kinds of stories that just make my heart full,” he said. “And these are the kinds of narratives that I think the world needs more of.”
As the film hits theaters this summer, it will surely touch the hearts of many and inspire a movement to care for the less fortunate. Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot is a film not to be missed, as it teaches valuable lessons about faith, love, and the power of community.
