- Quest for Democracy – 9 a.m.-2:15 p.m. Monday, April 29, at the California State Capitol Museum. Join Legal Services for Prisoners with Children and All of Us or None as they host a rally for democracy to show the strength of community voice to legislators. The event includes discussions and live entertainment.
- NAWBO-CA Propel 2024: Elevate, Transform, Advocate – 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel. This is a two-day conference designed for the diverse community of women business owners of today and the emerging leaders of tomorrow. Attendees will have the chance to elevate their networking by forging new business connections, transform business practices with strategies from powerful featured speakers, and gain insights to become stronger advocates for women by listening to and visiting our elected California leaders. The keynote speaker will be American athlete and four-time Olympian Chaunté Lowe. Tickets from $150.
- Black Men: Alive & Well Support Group – 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at 520 Ninth Street No. 102. The purpose of this group, which meets first and third Wednesdays monthly, is to provide a safe and honest forum to discuss issues related to being a Black man in America. Check in, get current, talk about things you may find difficult to discuss in other settings and experience the unique therapeutic value of one Black man helping another. Free and open to the public.
- BBB Sacramento Women’s Conference – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Frequency Coworking, 3249 Quality Drive, Rancho Cordova. Capital Region Small Business Week brings together entrepreneurs, seasoned business owners and business experts from public and private entities from across greater Sacramento to celebrate the region’s entrepreneurial spirit. The event emcees Celia Surridge and Betsaida Lebron celebrate the incredible achievements of women in Sacramento who are leading the way in driving change and progress. Tickets are $55.
- ‘Biking While Black’: Film Screening – 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Guild Theater. The film screening of “Biking While Black: How Safe are Black Lives Bicycling?” is about more than just a mode of transportation; it’s a mobility justice movement that celebrates the resilience, strength and spirit of the Black community and seeks to empower BIPOC bicyclists, dismantle systemic barriers and reimagine a world where cycling is a source of joy, freedom and safety for all. Free and open to the public.
- Orchestral Rendition of: Dr. Dre: 2001 – 7-10 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Ace of Spades. A traditional orchestra merges with a modern, live hip-hop music event. Expect a full standing crowd, with performances from various DJs, lyricists and singers, as well as a full orchestral rendition of Dr. Dre’s “2001” album, followed by other of Dre’s West Coast classics. Tickets from $45.
- Mystic Café – First Ladies of Jazz – 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Spiritual Life Center. The First Ladies of Jazz, Carol Mason, Vivian Lee and Denise Anya bring the timeless magic and mystique of great jazz as sung by the jazz greats. They will be accompanied by the Blue Skies Band. Tickets are $45; includes hors d’oeuvres.
- CBCC Business Mixer – 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Seasons 52. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with other Black community small business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals. Whether you’re looking to make new connections, learn about local resources or enjoy a fun evening with like-minded individuals, this mixer is the place. There will be food, drinks and music, and door prizes. Free and open to the public.
- Coco & Breezy at LowBrau – 9 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, at LowBrau. Coco & Breezy are producers and DJs and the fiercely stylish twins behind their multifaceted brand. Their musical journey was influenced by their family and grew into a deep passion for dance music culture. C&B submerged themselves into changing the face of dance music and what it means to be technically accomplished Afro-Latina women DJs and producers. Tickets are $15.
- Make Them Hear You: Uplifting Black Voices – 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, at the Sacramento Theatre. Featuring all Black performers, musicians, and music from shows by, about and for Black Artists. Tickets from $25.
- California Honey Festival – 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at 405 Main St., Woodland. This event promotes honey products and educates about bees and other pollinators’ crucial role in the ecosystem and economy. They strive to create an event experience that inspires people of all ages to protect and celebrate bees and other pollinators. Free and open to the public.
- 2024 Women’s Align Conference – 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Embassy Suites by Hilton Sacramento Riverfront Promenade. Join a transformative journey of faith, personal growth and spiritual alignment, becoming the light that brings positive and lasting change to communities and the world. Hosted by the renowned Dr. Pamela Hadley, this conference includes lunch, networking, a vendor expo, giveaways and more. Tickets are $50.

The keynote speaker is retired San Francisco 49er and Pro Football Hall of Famer Patrick Willis, who will share a moving personal reflection on the loss of his mother. - Women Who Dared: A Time to Care Affair – 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Guild Theater. California Black Women’s Health Project invites you to this empowering event. In celebration of the project’s 30th anniversary, they will uplift the mental health of Black individuals through a panel discussion and honor exceptional Black women who dare to make a difference in the lives of Black girls, women, families and communities. This year, they will honor CEO, speaker, radio personality and host of “Ms. Wanda’s Full Circle Radio,” Wanda Smith; executive director of ONTRACK Program Resources Inc., Madalynn C. Rucker; USC professor, Dr. Tyan Parker Dominguez; and more Black women. Tickets from $30.
