City of Sacramento Council districts were redrawn by the Sacramento Independent Redistricting Commission (SIRC), which adopted the final Sacramento City Council District Map on Dec. 16.
The new Council district map went into effect immediately, which means that many residents now live in a different Council district represented by a different Councilmember.
“With the reshaping of the City’s Council districts, residents can easily confirm which district they are located in and who their Councilmember is,” said the City’s Chief Information Officer Maria MacGunigal. “The City’s IT department has several resources available online to help residents connect with their City Council offices.”
FIND YOUR COUNCIL DISTRICT
Residents can confirm their City Council district with the City’s “Find your district” tool. Once finding your district, the tool will connect you with your councilmember’s website.

The new council district maps are available in the following formats on the City’s website:
- Printable PDF format in letter and wall sizes
- PDF with demographic and analytical information
- Interactive map format
REDISTRICTING PROCESS
Every 10 years, following the U.S. Census, the City of Sacramento must re-establish the boundaries for City Council districts. The resulting Council district boundaries must be balanced in population in accordance with local, state and federal rules governing the redistricting process.
SIRC, which includes 13 commission members, was formed in 2020 to set Council district boundaries.
The SIRC has been engaged in the public redistricting process for approximately one year, including extensive community outreach and 23 public meetings.
