ABOUT JOSHUA WOOD
Joshua Wood is a Sacramento developer and entrepreneur whose work has shaped some of the region’s most transformative projects. As Co-Founder and CEO of KozPure Development, alongside Charanjeet Tiwana Purewal, he has helped redefine Northern California’s economic and cultural landscape through developments that blend vision, community, and long-term impact.
Wood played a pivotal role in securing the Sacramento Kings’ arena deal — ensuring the city kept its team while creating a new downtown anchor that has driven years of investment and growth. He also helped lead approval efforts for Sky River Casino in Elk Grove, bringing over $500 million in new development and one of the region’s fastest-growing job engines.
Most recently, KozPure gained approval for a 100-acre business innovation park designed to bring advanced manufacturing and high-wage employment to the region, along with a new hospitality and sports district that will reshape the Sacramento/Rancho Cordova entertainment corridor.
Beyond the projects, Wood is a coalition builder who brings business, government, and community together to achieve shared success. He describes “Black Power and Influence” as the ability to “build doors” for others —bcreating access, wealth, and legacy.
For Wood, development isn’t just about buildings; it’s about belonging. His vision for Sacramento’s future is rooted in ownership, opportunity, and a belief that true progress must serve every generation.
ON LEADERSHIP AND INFLUENCE
What does “Black Power and Influence” mean to you?
It means being a builder of doors. Power is not something to be kept — it’s something to be shared.
Leadership Lesson:
Being doubted is a superpower. It gives you the drive to prove what’s possible.
Who inspires you most and why?
I have many mentors who have inspired me and pushed me to grow spiritually and professionally.
What are the biggest opportunities you see for Sacramento’s Black community in the years ahead?
Ownership. For too long, our community has been disconnected from access to property and enterprise. The future lies in reclaiming that foundation.
