The Roberts Family Development Center (RFDC) hosted a National Day of Social Action event at River City High School in West Sacramento, where students of color spent six weeks creating posters and performing poems, songs, and dances to express the importance of public education. The event was part of the Children’s Defense Fund, inspired by civil rights leader Ella Baker and founded by Marian Wright Edelman. RFDC served more than 840 students and employed over 100 interns, making it their busiest summer yet. The event aimed to empower youth, improve literacy skills, and strengthen a sense of community.
