  1. Summer Fun Program – 10 a.m.-3 p.m. every Monday-Thursday, June 5 through Aug. 7, at Robertson Community Center. For ages 5-14. Arts and crafts, sports, educational activities, and lunch/snacks will be provided. Beat the heat of summer and have fun at the same time. Contact Mr. Oshay with questions at 916-549-1808.
  2. Sacramento County Recommended Budget Hearings – 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, in the board chambers at the Sacramento County Administration Building. The hearings continue at 9:30 a.m. June 8-9, if necessary. The public is invited to attend and be heard on any items in the budget, whether publicly, over the phone or through written comments. Hearings also will be telecast live on Metro Cable 14 and on the county’s website.
  3. Del Paso Boulevard Hello Summer Mixer & Happy Hour – 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Lil Joe’s Patio. Mix and mingle with DPB business and property owners, and hear updates on SMUD’s electrification program and the City of Sacramento’s facade improvement grants.
  4. 3: Black Girl Blues – 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8, through Saturday, June 17, at the Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for the Arts. This exciting play, created by and starring Sacramento native Danielle Moné Truitt, is a tale of three close friends – Keisha, Jill and Stephanie – who grew up together and now at age 30 are confronted by their demons. Truitt hosts a talk-back after the Thursday and Saturday performances.
  5. Kevin Hart: Reality Check Tour – 8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Thunder Valley Resort. Hart is touring nationally with his eighth hour of stand-up material, be sure to come and see it live.
  6. Comrade Sisters: Women of the Black Panther Party Panel Discussion – 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, June 9, via Zoom. Join the California History Section in a discussion featuring co-authors Stephen Shames and Ericka Huggins of the newly released book, “Comrade Sisters: Women of the Black Panther Party.” This panel is joined by former Black Panther Party member M. Gayle Asali Dickson and moderated by Susan D. Anderson, history curator and program manager at the California African American Museum.
  7. Let’s Read Oak Park – 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Underground Books. The event is presented by St. HOPE for elementary school-age children to explore books and participate in hands-on activities with an emphasis on cultural themes. Students will engage in interactive book readings and select a free book of their choice to take home and encourage reading together as a family.
  8. Power Up Your Small Business: Your Brand and Financial Health – 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at Florin Square Shopping Center. Please join NCBW100 Inc. for a free, live small business workshop. An iPad Pro and other items will be available for raffle.
  9. Elk Grove/Laguna Juneteenth – Noon-6 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at the Center at District 56. The Juneteenth Holiday Freedom Month Festival will feature music, food and family fun. Bring the family and enjoy the festivities.
  10. Old School Sunday: Classic Car Show – 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at William Chorley Park. Join them for their 50th anniversary and grand reopening presented in partnership with Dedicated 916, Councilmember Caity Maple and Chinua Rhodes, Sacramento City Unified School District board president.
