The City of Sacramento is accepting applications for its fourth and final round of the City of Festival program to support special events taking place in Sacramento from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31.

Any individual or organization that would like to put on an event within the city of Sacramento may apply for the grant. Applications are due May 31.

“The City is excited to be supporting these types of family-friendly community events across Sacramento,” said Sabrina Tefft, who manages the program. “Events like these boost the local economy while enhancing the livability of our city for Sacramentans. It’s going to be a fun year full of activities for all”

The City has awarded over $275,000 to support 56 city-wide and community events in the first three rounds of applications.

To ensure distribution of resources and support for events throughout the city, $75,000 has been allocated to each council district area.

To qualify, the special events must be consistent with family-oriented themes, support arts and cultural entertainment and activities, promote a healthier living environment and enhance the quality of life in the city.

The maximum grant award is $7,500. Grant funds may be used to pay costs incurred in connection with the special event, including City costs for police services, parking and permits, and other event expenditures such as private security, portable restrooms, and event fencing.

Funding for the City of Festivals program comes from the $8.2 million in American Rescue Plan Funds for small business priorities, which was approved as part of the City Council approved ARP spending framework.
