The Black American Political Association of California (BAPAC) Sacramento Chapter, a nonprofit organization, has announced the following three scholarships for high school seniors, returning adults, and transfer/college undergraduates in the greater Sacramento, CA region. The memorial fund scholarships are in honor of:
- Mr. Percy Pinkney, was a prominent leader and a longstanding and influential political figure in California.
- Dr. George D. King, was a prominent professor and influential leader in California.
- Mr. James W. Sweeney, was a prominent leader and community advocate in Sacramento and the Bay Area.
Applicants can apply for all three scholarships. The applications can be found by emailing bapacsacramento.secretary@gmail.com. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 15 by midnight PST. Winners will be announced by May 30.
Students must meet the criteria of academic achievement, leadership and a 300-word essay. The scholarship awards of $1,000.00 each, will be distributed in the student’s college financial account.

Applicants must have graduated from a high school within the Sacramento region by the end of the 2023 spring term. Applicants must demonstrate a record of service to the African American/Black community, along with a record of academic achievement and leadership. Evidence of admission to a higher institution or continuing enrollment status in a college/university must be provided prior to scholarship distribution.
