Patrick Mahomes Is the NFL s 2022 Most Valuable Player

NPR reports that the 27-year-old quarterback was named MVP on Feb. 9. It is the second time he’s received the award in his six-year career. Mahomes completed the season with 5,614 total yards in passing rushing and receiving.

Other winners announced at the annual NFL awards ceremony include coach of the year Brian Daboll, comeback player of the year Geno Smith and Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Dak Prescott.

Mahomes issued a statement after being named the league’s MVP. “Every day giving everything that we have together to go for the ultimate goal, the Super Bowl. Let’s continue to go for that dream this weekend,” Mahomes said via statement.

Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at the Super Bowl on Feb. 12. . It will be the first Super Bowl in which the two starting quarterbacks are Black.
