The Black History Month Expo, “Reflections And Projections,” returns for its 35th year at the Sacramento Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Sacramento. The activities are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Feb. 24-26. The event is free and open to the public.

The three-day expo features a Black history parade; Black sports hall of fame; Gen35 and Black music awards; summits for Black women’s empowerment, saving our children and education; a youth-geared business conference; job fair; homeownership pavilion; meet-and-greet with Black authors, writers and publishers; African marketplace; soul food plaza; youth world; and hair and fashion shows. 

Also featured are hundreds of exhibit booths for information on jobs, health, education and homeownership — more resources than ever. This Black History Month event features music, entertainment and nightly concerts.

Highlights include: 


  • 4-6 p.m. – Black Women’s Networking Conference
  • 7 p.m. — Friday Night Funk Fest: An opening concert starring platinum recording artist and TV star Michel’le. 


  • 7 p.m. – Black-Tie Red-Carpet Awards Gala and Concert, starring Oscar and Grammy Award winner Regina Belle. Honorees include co-star of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” Danielle Monae Truitt.


  • The Gospel Sunday Rejoice Music Festival will be held throughout the day.
