The local Yes2Kollege Minority Health Professions Mentor Program Summer Job Shadow Opportunities returns for a ninth year, aimed at providing opportunities for African American students and parents.

The program again will be held virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers will utilize available technology to present the job shadowing virtually.

African American health professional mentors will give one-hour presentations, including time for questions and answers, daily in July beginning July 11. Each mentor will share his/her life, education and career story, with the hopes of inspiring participants to follow in their footsteps while offering support and guidance.

Each participant will receive a $100 Amazon gift card after completing eight job shadowing opportunities and a survey following each shadowing. Applications are due by July 5. Acceptance is on a first-come, first-served basis.

“This is a great opportunity for any youth interested in learning more about health professions and the possibilities for building early relationships with African American professionals who look like you,” said Yes2Kollege founder Sharon Chandler.
