On Sunday, June 19, the Sacramento Kings and the organization’s Black and Beyond employee resource group will commemorate and honor Juneteenth with a free event at the Tahoe Blue Ridge Bar and DOCO Plaza. The event will feature live music from funk band The Futurelics and DJ Aramii of Freequency, and include local poets Issa Jackson, Cloudy and Patrice Hill. The 916 Crew will also perform. In addition, guests will have the opportunity purchase drink specials, enter a raffle for Kings tickets and secure Kings swag.

The digital screens at the Grand Entrance of Golden 1 Center and near the corner of L and 5th Streets will also showcase art from local Black artists, Joha Harrison, Tasha King, Jessica Wimbley and Ike Slimster. View photos of the art HERE.

This celebration builds on the Sacramento Kings commitment to advance social and racial justice and invest in meaningful change. In June 2020, the team developed the Pledge to Our Black Community and has worked with partners across the Sacramento region to promote sustained community action. Additionally, the organization designated Juneteenth as a company-wide annual paid holiday to reflect, educate and participate in civic engagement.
