While moms and mother figures should be celebrated 365 days a year, Sacramento joins cities across the globe this weekend in lifting a proverbial glass in honor of all that they do. Sunday is Mother’s Day and we’ve compiled a small list of activities for those looking for things to do.

The North Sacramento Family Resource Center invites the community to come out on Saturday, May 7 to celebrate and honor mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers for their many contributions. You can treat the mom in your life and others at the same time by dining at Echo & Rig Sacramento on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8. Owner and Executive Chef Sam Marvin, has committed to donating all proceeds from their restaurant’s special Mother’s Day dessert, the “Queens Cake,” to the Every Mother Counts organization. The Queens Cake consists of layers of buttery puff pastry filled with an almond and blackberry center with a lavender creme anglaise and will be sold for $8 each. Every Mother Counts works to achieve quality, respectful and equitable maternity care for all by giving grants and working with partners and thought leaders to increase awareness and mobilize communities to take action. Echo & Rig is located in Downtown Sacramento, at DOCO, located at 500 NW J Street, Suite 150. The restaurant is open from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Mother’s Day.
