Howard University nontenure faculty have reached a tentative agreement with the university and will not go on strike today.
Faculty members had threatened to walk out for three days over issues of low pay and job security.
Union members still must vote to ratify the tentative agreement. The Howard staff are represented by the SEIU Local 500. The union said a vote is set to happen “in the coming weeks.”
