Carolyn Mullins of the Pocket area, and Amber Lovett and David Wilson of Arden, were honored by United Way California Capital Region at an evening recognition event held at the California State Railroad Museum earlier this month.
“We are honored to recognize some of the remarkable people who are creating stronger, healthier communities in our region,” said Dr. Dawnté Early, president and CEO, United Way California Capital Region. “Their time, talents and generosity are making our communities brighter. With their support, we have accomplished so much during a difficult year.”
Mullins received the Frances Wisebart Jacobs Live United Award for personifying the mission of United Way. She has served on the United Way Board of Directors for more than 10 years, leading two CEO search committees, including the one that brought Early to the organization in November. Mullins leads the Board Development Committee, implementing best practices and helping roll out Diversity, Equity and Inclusion learning.
Wilson was one of three volunteers who received the Boje and Price Award for Outstanding Volunteerism. He serves on the Board of Directors, as well as the Finance Committee and Collective Impact Council. Along with the two other recipients of the award, David Cable and David Bowen, Wilson helped lead the investment of the $10 million gift the local United Way received from renowned philanthropist MacKenzie Scott last year.
Lovett, chief resource development and marketing officer for United Way California Capital Region, was honored for 20 years at United Way, including her service as interim president and CEO from March 2021 to November when Early was hired.
At the event, United Way also named Dr. Fawzia Keval as Women United Member of the Year and Laura Rincon as Young Leaders Society Member of the Year. Health Net received the Cornerstone Award for financial giving to United Way.
