The latest jewel in Sacramento’s expanding cultural scene, The Museum Of Science And Curiosity (MOSAC), officially opened to the public last week.
The multi-media center features a state-of-the-art 120-seat UC Davis Multiverse Theatre and planetarium, hands-on exhibits on how to save the planet, classrooms and community events that explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM).
The 30,000-square-foot science museum, built on the site of an old SMUD power station at 400 Jibboom Street along the Sacramento River next to Matsui Waterfront Park, “will further our efforts to educate our customers about renewable energy, clean cars, electricity and environmental solutions that will better our community for generations to come,” said SMUD CEO and General Manager Paul Lau.
“It will spark curiosity in children and spur innovation in our region as we build a carbon-free economy and teach science, technology, engineering and math to our future teachers, policymakers, scientists and more,” he added.
MoSac is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ticket prices range from $12 to $15.
