Writing to stimulate, educate and inspire. The California Writers Club presents a discussion with local poet and author Staajabu on Saturday, July 17. The talk is scheduled to take place during the group’s monthly meeting at 12 p.m.

Staajabu is known internationally as the elder in Sacramento’s mother/daughter poetry team, Straight Out Scribes. She’ll share excerpts from her latest futuristic anthology, “Caledonia’s Daughters,” some of her favorite poems and how she maintains her peace, positivity and productivity. She’ll touch on how to nourish one’s body and mind to be receptive to inspiration, the importance of solitude and rest and relaxation techniques to enhance visualization.

Originally from Camden, NJ, Staajabu is also a producer and graphic artist. She is best known for performing spoken word with daughter Dr. V.S. Chochezi. Since 1990, they have performed at more than 500 events, self-published eight poetry anthologies and produced two CDs. “Caledonia’s Daughters,” a small book of futuristic short stories written by Staajabu, edited by Dr. Chochezi with cover design by granddaughter Jessa Ciel, is available on Amazon.com.
