OPINION – If you want to jump start your metabolism try a great low calorie high energy building breakfast.  These are some of my favorite recipes that give me lots of energy and also help me to drop those unwanted pounds.

Berry Berry Breakfast Bowl

Ingredients

1 cup non-fat cottage cheese

1/2 scoop (about 3 Tablespoons) Vanilla Protein Powder

4 strawberries, sliced

1/3 cup blackberries

1 Tablespoon slivered or sliced almonds

2 teaspoons honey

Instructions

Mix cottage cheese with protein powder until the powder is combined thoroughly.

Top with berries, almonds, and honey.

Mix all together. Enjoy!

Egg White Omelet in a Mug

Ingredients

4 egg whites, lightly beaten

2 tablespoons fully cooked ham or turkey bacon (or you can omit meat)

2 tablespoons fresh baby spinach, shredded

1 tablespoon green pepper, diced

1 tablespoon red pepper, diced

1 tablespoon tomato, diced

1 tablespoons reduced-fat cheddar cheese

salt and pepper to taste, if desired

Instructions

Spray a microwave-safe mug with non-stick cooking spray. Combine all ingredients in mug and mix. Microwave uncovered on high for 1 minute; stir. Cook for 1-1 1/2 minutes longer or until eggs are completely set.

For a pop in the taste depart try fresh salsa on top.

Peanut Butter Whole Wheat English Muffin

Ingredients

1 tablespoon of peanut butter

1 tablespoon of raisins

1 teaspoon of sesame seeds

Instructions

Toast the English muffin, spread the peanut butter, sprinkle raisins and sesame seeds.

Breakfast Burrito

Ingredients

Whole Multi-Grain Tortilla

Scrambled Tofu or Egg Whites

1 tsp Scallions

1/8 Cheddar Cheese

1 teaspoon Parsley

Instructions

Scramble tofu add scallions, parsley and spread on a warmed tortilla.  Sprinkle cheddar cheese and roll into a burrito.

 

Peach and Toasted Almond Greek Yogurt

Ingredients

2 tbsp. sliced almonds

1 peach

6 oz. Greek yogurt

1 tbsp. brown sugar

Instructions

Microwave almonds on plate 1 minute or until toasted. Mix sliced peach and brown sugar in bowl; spoon over yogurt. Top with almonds.
