SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Black Child Development Institute (BCDI) is currently seeking donations for its upcoming Back to School Book Bag Giveaway.
The organization is collecting backpacks and school supplies to distribute to area school children in need. BCDI Sacramento’s goal is to give away 50 backpacks and is asking for donations of backpacks, paper, pencils, pens, glue sticks, crayons, hand sanitizers and more to make that happen.
The Sacramento Black Child Development Institute is an affiliate organization of the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI); BCDI Sacramento is a non-profit organization with a diverse membership of people who are interested in improving the conditions of children and their families in Sacramento County. Members volunteer their time, talents and resources to provide education, information and resources to families.
To donate, contact President Sharon Saffold at (916) 425-5162. Collected bags and supplies will be given away to area youth on Friday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Library, 4799 Stockton Boulevard.
