Richard Pan

THE OBSERVER is proud to recommend the candidacy of Dr. Richard Pan for the District 6th State Senate seat. Dr. Pan is a family man, pediatrician, entrepreneur, educator and Assemblyman. He will bring to the State Senate a career-long dedication of energy, work, and service to the families of the District.

As a legislator Dr. Pan has been accessible and responsive. He has demonstrated that he understands the challenges that face today’s communities. He has helped to increase access to quality health care, the improvement of California schools and the strengthening of our local economy.

Dr. Pan co-founded the Healthy Kids Healthy Future program, securing quality health coverage for more than 65,000 in the Sacramento area. He led the fight to stop insurance companies from denying coverage to Californians with pre-existing conditions. Because of such efforts, one million additional Californians now have health insurance coverage.

Dr. Pan expanded disease-screening for newborns and prohibited the sale of expired infant formula. A concerned educator, Dr. Pan co-authored the Middle Class Scholarship Act, which reduces UC and CSU tuition by up to two-thirds for middle-class families. He partnered with firefighters to secure more than $120 million in federal funds for emergency services, including poorly served
neighborhoods in Sacramento.

As a physician, Dr. Pan’s unique experience, insights and sensitivities, especially in the health care area, are most important
and very much needed. He still volunteers and practices medicine in the Oak Park neighborhood and has brought people together, any number of times, to address the community’s health problems. He is truly a leader for the times.

For his hard work and dedication, Dr. Pan has been honored by a large number of organizations, groups and leaders, including a recipient of the California Legislator of the Year Award.

For the State Senate race, Assemblyman Pan is strongly supported by a large number of elected officials, law enforcement leaders, Democratic associations, business and labor groups, community activists, health and medical organizations.

THE OBSERVER strongly urges your support and vote for Dr. Richard Pan for the State Senate, District 6 seat, in the November 4 General Election.
