OAK PARK — The first-ever Sacramento Black Book Fair hosted by Blue Nile Press will kick off June 6, at 6:30 p.m. in Historic Oak Park’s Guild Theater. The event, free to the public, will also take place June 7 and June 8 at various venues in the Oak Park area.
The public is asked to pick the “On the Wings of Words’” FREE SBBF Event Program Book at the Women’s Civic Improvement Center (WCIC), starting Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.

The Sacramento Black Book Fair will feature more than 70 authors of African descent, showcasing and highlighting a diverse spectrum of authors and literature. Discussions and book signings from these fine writers are scheduled for the three-day affair.

Attendees are sure to find their niche and discover new ones from contemporary and historical fiction, to anthologies, poetry, academic books, children’s stories and books, non-fiction to biographies, self- help, and inspirational, religious, and financial works.

Schedules to attend are actresses and authors Denise Nicholas and Victoria Rowell. Bill Strickland, Paul Carter Harrison, Eugene B. Redmond, and Carlos Moore, Dr. Halifu Osumare, and Dr. Maulana Karenga.

Venues for the Black Book Fair ar Underground Books (35th Street and Broadway), the Guild Theater (35th Street and Broadway), Evolve The Gallery (35th Street and Broadway), and McGeorge School of Law (3200 5th Avenue).

The Brickhouse Gallery (2837 36th Street), Teach For America (3400 3rd Avenue) and the Women’s Civic Improvement Center (3555 3rd Avenue), and the AKA Sorority House (35th and 2nd Avenue) round out the participating locations for the book fair.
