
SACRAMENTO – Two women who played pivotal roles in the Black Panther Party for Self Defense are visiting Sacramento this week.
Charlotte O’Neal discussed her experiences with the Black Panther Party and her work in Africa at UC Davis today. On Tuesday, March 11, she’ll participate in an International Women’s Day event at Sacramento City College. As part of the “Women of Tanzania” event, that is set to run 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Ms. O’Neal will share her work as the co-founder of the the United African Alliance Community Center.
On Saturday, March 15, Elaine Brown comes to Sacramento’s Underground Books from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Ms. Brown is the author of “A Taste of Power: A Black Woman’s Story.” She’ll discuss her book and her experience at the helm of the Black Panther Party.
The Sacramento City College event is sponsored by the school’s Cultural Awareness Center and the event will be held in the on-campus center, located at 3835 Freeport Boulevard. Underground Books is located at 2814 35th Street.
