SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. is accepting applications for its 2014 scholarship for area high school students.

Scholarships will be given to seniors graduating from Sacramento area schools. Applicants are required to write an essay on the topic, “My Life, My Goals.” An application and complete list of criteria and instructions can be found on the organization’s website,

NCBW advocates on behalf of women of color through national and local actions and strategic alliances that promote its national and international agendas on leadership development and on gender equity in health, education and economic development.

The scholarship process is open to girls and boys. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is March 14. Any application packages postmarked after this date will not be accepted. Scholarship recipients will be recognized at an awards ceremony in May.
