DETROIT – VoxPlus, an advanced, full-service telecom firm based in Detroit, has been acquired by African-American entrepreneur Joseph Durham and a group of private investors, the company announced today. The company is headed by a diverse management team with a combined 100 years of telecom, IT, operations and marketing experience for immediate and future business development and growth.

Mr. Durham, who brings twenty-five years of telecom and IT expertise to VoxPlus, was previously responsible for business development at AT&T, where he was involved in the company’s entry into the Billion Dollar Roundtable, a national organization that recognizes U.S. corporations that achieve spending of at least $1 billion with minority and woman-owned suppliers, and which promotes supply chain diversity. VoxPlus is 100% minority owned.

While offering a comprehensive range of fixed-line and value added data networking, voice and IT solutions, VoxPlus will focus on five core areas:

  • international and domestic 800 service
  • international and domestic DID service
  • carrier transport (origination and termination)
  • local and long distance service, and
  • enterprise grade global dedicated data and internet services

The company will target large multi-national corporations, government agencies, and small to medium size business enterprises which require superior, reliable telecom and data transport at outstanding pricing and high level service with SLA’s. With a global network of more than 200 MSA partners, VoxPlus offers coverage in more than 180 countries with direct connections and partnership agreements with several international carriers. Through this significant international and domestic network, the company provides a substantial variety of reliable, wholesale carrier services, high quality data, telecom, IT, and broadband services. Relationships with its teaming partners and consultants already exist with partner companies that include Level 3, Expereo, Intelepeer, NTT of Japan, AT&T, Century-Link, China Unicom, America Movil, Thomas Telecom, Milli Micro Systems and others.

Driving the wide range of voice capabilities of VoxPlus is an advanced Class 5 VoIP Switch, a powerful, flexible state-of-the-art technology that supports all the requirements of global enterprise level internet telephony, including calling cards, call shops, devices, PC/ Mobile Dialers, wholesale origination and termination. Presently, 50 million minutes of phone and data transmissions per month can be processed, and this will be increased to 200 million within a year.
The company presently has teaming arrangements with a number of 8(a) and HUBZone-certified firms and veteran-owned and Tier 1 telecoms. VoxPlus will provide support for both domestic and global traffic as well as outstanding call centers and help desks in English and Spanish.

The management team of VoxPlus will maintain its corporate office in a HUBZone in Newark, NJ, in order to create more opportunities for minority employees there. Mr. Durham fully recognizes and is committed to addressing the lack of minority representation in the telecom and IT industries.

“My own success at AT&T and as an African-American entrepreneur can serve as an inspiration, and eventually increase their participation in these rapidly growing technology fields.” Mr. Durham stated.
VoxPlus has formed a relationship with a major financial institution from which its banking and related services will be provided.
