
SACRAMENTO – The 2012 CIF State Championships presented by Farmers are Friday-Saturday, March 23-24, at Power Balance Pavilion, in Sacramento. Twenty teams will compete for 10 State Basketball titles. Teams in Divisions II and IV will compete on Friday, March 23, beginning at 1:30 p.m., while Divisions I, III and V will be contested on Saturday, March 24, with first tip-off set for 9:30 a.m.
Tickets for all three sessions are available through TicketMaster or at the Power Balance Pavilion Box Office. Ticket prices range from $10-$45 per session.
As a result of the landmark agreement with Time Warner Cable, for the first time all Championship games will be aired live in select markets. KBCSports.com will provide audio coverage of all 10 games.
The Division I Girls game is a rematch of 2011 as Mater Dei (3-1) seeks to defend their title against Berkeley (2-8). In Girls Division II Archbishop Mitty (4-4) hopes to win their fifth title, while La Jolla Country Day (2-3) and Laguna Hills (1-0) are seeking their third and second crowns respectively in Girls Divisions IV and III.
The Mater Dei Boys (8-4) are making their 13th State Finals appearance, most among any teams in State history, and look to defend their 2011 Division I crown. In the Division IV Boys game, Price (6-1) looks to record a seventh title as they take on Salesian (1-1) who are making a second consecutive appearance. Archbishop Mitty (1-2) seeks to repeat as State Champions in Division II Boys, while St. Joseph Notre Dame (4-3) also looks to defend their title in Division V Boys. Additionally, in the Division III Boys game the Sacred Heart Cathedral Boys (1-1) are in search for their second title.
Seven teams are making their first appearance in the State Finals and two (Bishop O’Dowd {0-1} – Girls Division II and Mission Prep {0-6} – Girls Division V) are attempting to claim their first State Championship. Teams making their first State Championship showing include: Alemany (Boys Division III), Brookside Christian (Girls Division V), J.W. North (Girls Division II), La Costa Canyon (Boys Division II), Salesian (Girls Division IV), Sheldon (Boys Division I), Village Christian (Boys Division V).
