SACRAMENTO – Michael Brown Sr., father of a Black teen shot by police in Ferguson, Mo., is set to lecture at Sacramento State at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 20.

Now an activist, Michael Brown Sr. will deliver a lecture titled “Chosen for Change – A Father’s Perspective.”

Brown Sr. is the father of Michael Brown, who lost his life in a 2014 Ferguson, Mo., police shooting. Brown Sr. has been motivated to use his tumultuous experiences to help others who have been affected by police brutality through his nonprofit organization, Chosen for Change. He will be speaking on his joys as a parent, on his loss and his guilt.

The lecture will take place in the University Union Ballroom, 6000 J Street. The University Ballroom doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Because a large turnout is expected, the lecture will be live-streamed outside to the University Union’s Serna Plaza once the Ballroom is full. Tickets will be required for entrance to the event and can be obtained at SacStateUNIQUE.com. This event is free for students and the general public.
