Center for Fathers and Families to Hold 5k Superheroes Run/Walk/Jog on Father’s Day

SACRAMENTO – Dads are often Superheroes in the children’s eyes, slaying monsters under the bed and leaping tall buildings to chase away imagined villains in the night.

The 5k Superheroes Run/Walk/Jog will be held on the Capitol Mall on Sunday, June 15. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with races beginning at 8:00 a.m. Races are encouraged to wear their favorite superhero costume. With paid registration, every race is given a cape to wear.

Cost ranges $20-50, with proceeds going toward the Center for Fathers and Families’ efforts to help men be positive forces in their families and communities. For more information, visit www.superheroes5k.com.

The non-profit hosts its own event, the 12th Annual Salute to Fatherhood Banquet on Wednesday, June 18. The event will be held at the at the Doubletree Hotel and honors the Center’s 2014 Fathers of the Year. A reception is to run 6:00-7:00 p.m. followed by the program from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
