SACRAMENTO – Sacramento State University’s Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution unites with The California Lawyers for the Arts/Sacramento Mediation Center and Sacramento County Bar Association –ADR Section to present the 18th Annual Conflict Resolution Training Workshop June 23-27.
The Training Workshop on Conflict Resolution: Negotiation and Mediation Skills Building is set to run 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily.
Participants will develop negotiation and mediation skills that will enable them to manage conflict constructively in any situation. As a certified mediator, participants will also be equipped with the skills and confidence to help others resolve their disputes effectively. This interactive workshop combines lecture, videos, role plays and simulation exercises and is facilitated by highly experienced mediators who will share the theory and methods behind collaborative interest-based bargaining.
Workshop trainers will be Dr. Ernest Uwazie, director of the Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution and professor of Criminal Justice at Sacramento State and Daniel Yamshon, an attorney and highly experienced dispute resolution trainer, practitioner and theorist at both the domestic and international levels.
Topics for discussion will include Negotiation and Mediation Techniques, Conflict Theories & Practices, Conflict Assessment & Analysis, Conflict Sources and Types, Consensus Building, Ethics in Mediation, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Conflict Anatomy, Ethics in Mediation, Cross-Cultural Communication & Conflict Resolution Techniques, Building Dispute Resolution Practice.
