SACRAMENTO – The weather is nice and it’s time to head for the “Beach.”
Motown recording artist Mila J is set to perform in Sacramento on Friday, May 2 as part of hip-hop artist Ty Dolla $ign’s highly anticipated“The Beach House Tour.” Mila J will perform locally at Ace of Spades.
“The Beach House Tour” kicked off in Fresno n April 29 and will culminate on May 22 in Los Angeles, CA. Other tour stops include Oakland, Chico, Seattle, WA. and Portland, OR. Mila J will perform on select dates during the tour.
Mila J will be supporting her much buzzed about debut single for Motown Records, “Smoke, Drink, Break-Up.” The track itself is alluring with Mila J’s seductive delivery and sexy cadence, nodding to the ‘90s golden age of R&B with fresh fire. It’s also steadily shaping up to be a hit, climbing the Urban Mainstream Chart at radio and amassing over 500,000 YouTube/VEVO views in less than a month. It is also currently in rotation on MTV Jams, MTV HITS, MTV2, VH1, and available on VEVO.
“Smoke, Drink, Break-Up” is just a prelude of much bigger things to come from Mila J. The artist is readying her full-length debut, M.I.LA.—an acronym for “Made In Los Angeles”—for an August release. After independently dropping a mixtape that garnered over 600,000 downloads in 2012, Mila J incited a heated bidding war between nearly every major label. They all fought to sign her, but ultimately she inked a deal with Motown in 2013.
Mila, born Jamila Akiko Chilombo, is the sister of fellow up and coming recording artist Jhene Aiko, whose album “Sail Out: featured the breakout song, “Bed Peace.”
