SOUTH SACRAMENTO — Salon owners from four different African American hair shops across Sacramento region have joined together to form Mixed Institute of Cosmetology, a new school located at 5950 Florin Road. Mixed Institute is currently enrolling for classes beginning Feb. 25.
Mixed, which stands for Multicultural, Innovative, Cutting Education, seeks to provide students with the skills to perform services needed for the diverse population that Sacramento holds. Mixed provides students with on-the-job training taught by seasoned Hair Stylists and Salon Owners, along with the skills to do hair for all ethnicities.
“All of the founders saw that new stylists were coming directly from cosmetology school looking to join our salons, but lacking the ability to perform beyond the standard requirements to receive certification,” said Robert Brown, Founder of Mixed Institute of Cosmetology.
In addition, Mixed Institute aims to do more than just prepare students to pass the state licensure exam. The cosmetology school offers the ultimate learning experience to ensure our students are armed with the tools to open and operate successfully as professional stylists once they complete the program.
Mixed provides students with both hair & business skills, along with the confidence to succeed in the ever-changing cosmetology industry. In addition, the school is offering full and partial scholarship opportunities for two qualifying students.
