Talking Drum Newsletter hosts its Fifth Annual MLK Day of Service

The Black Unified Fund of Sacramento Valley and the Talking Drum Newsletter hosts its Fifth Annual MLK Day of Service on Sunday, January 26.

The local event is set to run from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Hosts are collecting warm clothing items and blankets for the homeless. Suggested donations include jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, gloves, hats, scarves and socks. Items should be new and unworn.
Volunteers will package donations for distribution to local agencies that work with the needy on the day of service. This year’s Day of Service will focus on the collection of warm clothing for four local programs: the Center for Community Health and Well Being, Wellspring Women’s Center, Next Move (formerly Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center) and Loaves and Fishes, all of which provide services to individuals and families who are homeless.

This Day of Service effort will take place at the Black United Fund office, located at 4104 44th Street. To donate or to participate, call Faye at (916) 484-3750.
