SACRAMENTO – Black Friday may have passed, but some locals have created a Black Saturday of sorts that allows shoppers to find deals, unique items and support small businesses at the same time.
The Garvey Marketplace is being held locally every Saturday. Currently, the location will change every month. The next flea market will be open this Saturday, December 14 from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. at 2572 21st Street.
Organizers say “The Garvey” is open to “every creative business from accessories, authors, handmades to bakers and packaged foods.” Visitors can find photographers, vintage fashion, holiday greeting cards, natural hair products and stylists, furniture and health food. The December 14 event will feature a Holiday Bazaar and an Acoustic music showcase at 3:00 p.m. The goal is to grow the flea market to become a fixture in Sacramento.
“The Garvey, named after Marcus Mosiah Garvey also believes and has adopted the energy and spirit of it’s namesake that economic freedom must be available for everyone,” shared founder Cleo Cartel.
“With this approach we at The Garvey are helping each other develop business strategies, branding, manufacturing, promotion and selling opportunities,” Ms. Cartel shared.
The Garvey Marketplace will be held on Sundays in January at 2733 Riverside Boulevard. To become a vendor or for more information, visit http://soulinthacity7.wix.com/thegarvey or to become a vendor, call (916) 752-7495.
