SACRAMENTO – Healthy Access, a community initiative to improve health, will host a free “Back To School” health fair for underserved Sacramentans 10a-3p this Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Marina Vista Community Center Park. Presented by Sutter Health Sacramento Sierra Region, Dignity Health, Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency and local community organizations, this family friendly event will provide attendees with free primary care services, assist them to enroll in affordable health coverage and CalFresh programs and link them to free school, parenting, and health resources.
Also featured will be interactive health and wellness booths, free basic medical and dental screenings, certificates for free eye exams and glasses, and back to school giveaways including school supplies and bicycles. In addition to screenings and resources, there will be live entertainment throughout the day by Sacramento Kings and River Cats talent, music, games and activities for all members of the family.
“Approximately 230,000 people in Sacramento County are uninsured and another 200,000 don’t know where their next meal will come from,” said Holly Harper, Community Benefits Manager of Sutter Health Sacramento Sierra Region. “Saturday’s event will connect individuals and families to much needed resources available right here in our community.”
