OAK PARK – Every year, hundreds of locals fill McClatchy Park for an annual concert, despite Sacramento’s oppressive, sometimes triple digit heat. This year they’ll have some Suga T to keep them cool.
The Bay Area based rapper singer will perform during the 27th Annual Oak Park Summer Concert set for Saturday, August 3. The event is to run at the park’s Callie Carney Amphitheater from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. Suga T will be performing at 2:30 p.m. and will sing from her new album “Tenina: Unbreakable Me Soundtrack.” She’ll hit the stage with Soul Legacy.
Suga , aka Tenina Stevens, is the sister of Bay Area rapper E-40. Both helped to establish “the Bay sound” in the 1990s.
The Oak Park Summer Concert will also feature performances by Cleanslate, Night Shift, Simply The Band, Saxual Chocolate, Foe Deep, Johnny Bokat, and 1 Sound.
Sponsors include the Oak Park, the City of Sacramento, District 5 Councilmember Jay Schenirer, the Community Pride Project and the Sacramento OBSERVER.
The event will also include the annual Ulezi Family Health Fair. The event provides health screenings and information on resources to the needy of the community. The health fair was presented by the UCD School of Medicine, UCD Office of Diversity, the Imani student-run clinic, and the Davis Chapter of the Students National Medical Association.
Some of the many services available to the public include chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol and minor infections, as well as demonstrations and information on female health (mammograms, pelvic exams) and other preventative care.
McClatchy Park is located at 3500 5th Avenue.
